A d.i.y job. this house is livable but is in need of restoration, the property has 80m2 and is a two storey building. on the ground floor there is a living room/dining room which also has an old world open fire and chimney, a kitchen and also a bathroom, upstairs there are two bedrooms. the house needs a fair bit of work doing to it but it has lovely views and is in a quiet area. the house is unnoccupied at the moment and has been for some time. the electricity and water services are on hold at present. once done up this house has potential. it is in the old part of the town behind the church in a cul-de-sac. the only let down of this property is the unavailability of outside parking although there is parking space just up the road. needs rewiring and an electricity meter installing. unnoccupied for some time now. iznalloz is a mere 25 minutes north of granada city centre and 30 minutes from granada international airport, it is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the main a44/e902 granada/jaen highway giving you fast access to both major cities. granada is a beautiful historic city which boasts the famous alhambra palace as well as a renowned science museum, all types of shopping complexes and everything that you could find in a big city. the city of jaen, the name is thought to derive from the old arab word describing a place of rest on a caravan route, and indeed the city of jaen was perfectly placed to provide a stopping place to armies moving from one main city to another during moorish occupation of spain, one great feature is the citys moorish castle has been carefully converted into a parador which sits majestically on top of mount santa catalina, each year the plazas of jaen are lit up by huge bonfires celebrating the day of san antonio abad, the patron saint and protector of animals. the towns neighbourhoods vie with one another to build the biggest, brightest and most spectacular bonfire, while the people perform the traditional dance called "los melenchones". seasonal delicacies are eaten such as pumpkin, sweet potatoes and popcorn. the sierra nevada ski resort is only 45 minutes away and the beaches of motril and salobreña 1 hour away. almeria and malaga are roughly an hour and a half away, on the town's doorstep, you will find the stunning sierra arana national park which has great walks, off road tracks, 2 restaurants, outdoor bbq areas, soon to be opened cuevas del agua (water caves), a mini golf course and even a mushroom museum! iznalloz has everything you would expect from a town of roughly 7000 people, a nursery, primary and secondary schools, all major spanish banks and cash machines, a health centre, an accident and emergency room plus ambulance service, 2 outdoor municipal swimming pools open during the summer months, a train station and regular bus service into granada and beyond, on the outskirts of the town there is a furniture warehouse and outlet, it has its own industrial estate, a hotel and sports centre, a post office, several bars and restaurants, a large supermarket and lots of local shops, the weekly outdoor market is held on a tuesday. there are all kinds of professional workers, such as glaziers, builders, electricians, welders etc, plus the circus, bullfights and funfairs often come to town. the fiesta is in mid august where there are live bands etc, telephone lines are available through telefonica and the town has excellent reception for both internet broadband and satellite tv connection.
